Who I Am...

I'm a masters track and field athlete way past my prime. I was a moderately successful track and field athlete in high school and just never realized my full potential. My lack of success is mostly attributable to lack of focus and work ethic.

I competed in track and field while in high school and college. I was gifted as a young athlete and relied on my natural ability most of the time. Consequently, I had a poor work ethic, and I didn't discover the value of competent training until I completed USA Track and Field Level 1 coaching education.

I never lost my urge to compete. I simply failed to focus and execute a competent training plan to be successful. I joined a summer club as a masters athlete in 2006 to obtain structure. I was eventually asked to be a coach, and I agreed. The education I have received as a coach has dramatically changed my perspective as an athlete.

After many years away from competition, I realized that I had some unfinished business as an athlete. I found a new sense of focus, and reinvented myself as an athlete. I'm excited about training and competing, and I genuinely believe that I can still accomplish lifetime personal records in my forties. I don't know where this ride is headed, but I plan to ride it all the way to the end.

I am also a certified strength and conditioning coach, and a certified track and field coach with a B.A. in Psychology. I have over 8 years of experience coaching and training track and field athletes. My experience includes coaching and training youth for a USA Track and Field (USATF) member track club, as well as coaching and training high school track and field athletes. I have coached and trained seven youth athletes who have qualified for the USATF Junior Olympic National Championships. Additionally, I have coached and trained a USATF Junior Olympic regional champion. I currently coach youth athletes for a USATF member track club. I also coach sprints and relays for a Division 1 high school track program.

I am the owner and founder of Athletix Ultra, a private training and coaching service focused on motivating, encouraging, and supporting athletes in helping them achieve their goals and reach their dreams. I am dedicated to promoting lifetime health and fitness with the athletes I coach and train, as well as my over-40 peers. My personal motto is as follows: Be confident. Be competitive. Be clutch. Happy Training.
